Over the weekend of November 12-14, each South Heart High School art student entered at least one of their art pieces into the local Badlands Art Show. This is a multi-category juried show with first place, second place, third place, honorable mentions, and some additional specialty awards in each division. The junior high and high school divisions are separated into grades 7-9 and 10-12. This year’s 7-12 student show, housed 10 different schools from around the state. There were 165 student entries in these two divisions. The quality of the artwork makes for a competitive show and our South Heart students came away with nine awards.
Molly Robb, Joey Breitzman, Alana Bagley, Hannah Hoff, Grace Nantt, Lance Kostelecky, and Landen Reynolds each received an honorable mention.
Molly Robb was the recipient of the Emerging Woman Artist award by our local Women Empowering Women nonprofit organization for her piece “Bits and Pieces”. A cash prize was awarded and her piece was featured on the Women Empowering Women Facebook page.
Alana Bagley was the recipient of the Laureen Evans Artful Natural Earth award in the Plants and Flowers division for her piece “Bumblebee”. A cash prize was awarded.
Congratulations to all of our artists!
